Singing you those sweet old songs from a long-gone time, The Sweet Old Souls bring a blend of Jazz and Country music that can be light-hearted, bawdy and raucous, or sentimental. Playing vintage guitar, ukulele and fiddles, James and Suze have an old-world vibe and casual charm, sneaking in the occasional Celtic, Americana, and even Klezmer double-fiddle tunes. And if their hominess isn't evidenced in their music, they also travel with a rotating sample of their pantry, featuring homemade plum jam and Asian-pear butter from their little urban orchard in Portland, OR.
The Back Porch Trio has moved onto the indie folk scene in Northern California by playing regularly in and around Mendocino, Lake, and Sonoma County over the past six years. Upbeat rockers, plaintive ballads, funky, folky, or just plain fun, the they perform a collection of their own songs mixed with clever concepts of popular cover tunes. Rosie Wetzel (ukulele and vocals), Steve Hahm (acoustic guitar and vocals) and Jeff Taylor (bass) have known one another through different musical groups and combos for years now, and when they first brought their unique voices and instruments together on a hot July night on Jeff’s back porch kitchen to do some pickin’, they were pretty sure they had something special.
